In our minds stays quite deep:
There is only one option to heal
Horse Tendon and Horse
Ligament problems.
---
Can't there be any other
solutions to heal Equine Tendon
and Equine Suspensory
Ligament Injuries?
|
Answer is simple: Yes there is!
Did you knew there are 2 options, what I count anyway, how to take care of Horse Tendons and Equine Ligament problems?
Either of these methods are not magical things. They are based on some basic and logical work. More or less...
Dear Fellow Horse Caregiver,
If you have spending time, working with horses, then you know there can be and will be a lot of health problems when working with horses. Do you know you can prevent and treat a lot of your horse’s problems, such as horse joint, horse ligament, horse tendon, horse muscle or horse hoof problems?
Have you wasted your time trying to treat horse ligaments or horse tendons only to find your horse still hurting and in pain? If you have, you need to know how to take care of these problems and fix them.
Horse Tendon and Horse Ligament problems as Horse Bowed Tendon and Suspensory Ligament problems can be treated in a better way.
The traditional way to heal, how I call it, or try to heal (in too many cases), is more like to give the horse as little as possible exercise. The idea is with time and rest to heal the injury.
And how long? Months and months, too many months perhaps?
And what is the result? It depends of course about the horse, but also what kind of work the horse is doing on regular basis.
What I have noticed, too many horses are injuring again when the level of the working is almost on normal level.
Why is that?
On the tendon is growing scar tissue which is not elastic like the horse tendon it self. When the horse ligament or tendon is resting and the scar tissue is growing on the tendon or ligament, it is very big chance that the tendon or ligament will injure again, like a snap, because it is not elastic anymore.
And what we do, when the same horse tendon injury comes again?
Well... Normally we make the same treatments like before, even we earlier found out it did not work good enough for the horse tendon or horse ligament!

Why are we doing same mistakes?
Because we don't know any better solution!
Or, we are scared to try something else.
Or, we are just suspicious about something new!
That's normal among us people.
Don't blame your self!
It is just how the human nature works!
But!
Always should questioning things and doings, like:
- Why that horse tendon or horse suspensory ligament injures again?
- Are we treating these problems some how wrong?
- Could there be any other solution to treat and heal problems like: equine suspensory
ligament, equine tendon and equine ligament injuries?
Word "wrong" is maybe too strong, but in some cases we forget the word "natural" in treatment of horse tendons and horse ligaments.
We forget how wild horses are acting.
Do they stay still weeks or months when they get for example some suspensory ligament problems?
No... If they stay still, they will be breakfast to some beast.
So, why our horses must stay most of the healing process in the box?
Good Question! Don't you agree?
We should not deactivate the own healing process of the horse by keeping him in the box!
We rely on too much to all kinds of chemical stuffs, ultrasound checking, and just forget the origin idea of horse´s way of living.
I know many cases when the vet told to the owner, after ultrasound checking, there is no point to continue to train this horse because of the bad damages in horse tendon or horse ligament.
The damage % of horse tendon or horse ligament have been so high.
Anyway many of these horses have come back on track!
Ultrasound is not bad, no, it is good for checking damages, just don't let the damage % to scare you right away.

In fact, this could be the most important letter you've ever read.
Hi, my name is Diane. I live in the Northern New South Wales and I have trained Endurance horses and have ridden stock horses for many years. My first contact with horses was on my parents’ home farm. I grew up on a property in Queensland and spent my first 15 years working on my parents’ property. While I was involved in all aspects of farming, my passion was beef cattle and horses.
I began riding when I was 3 years old and bought my first horse when I was 12. She was a very timid horse and was unbroken. Even though I was so young, I was already very experienced with horses as my brother and I had spent a lot of time riding “problem” horses for other people in the district, giving them back when their problems were solved and they were able to be ridden by their owners. We were not paid for “retraining” these horses but were happy to help other people to overcome their difficulties and to be able to enjoy their horses. We benefited by gaining a great deal of experience with all sorts of horses and enjoyed having an unlimited supply of horses to ride. As a result, I was able to break in my young horse, myself, and she became a brilliant friend and partner. I called her Lightning because she could move very quickly – like greased lightning as the saying goes. Therefore, I have spent almost all of my life with horses – more years than I would care to admit to… Time flies with horses …
From horses I get my pleasure. In my experience, I strive to make the best lives possible for the horses I care for. I know that, the better your horse is feeling, the more easily and affordably you can enjoy success, or just enjoy being with your co-worker, your friend, The Horse.
A Healthy Horse is a Happy Horse!
Doesn't she look satisfied?

In finnish we have a saying, "When a horse fly bites you, there is no return." Translation - Once you´ve worked and/or been with horses you can´t live without them.
As a novice, quite soon I started to notice that having and training a horse is not just sunshine. Different kinds of problems such as the one previously mentioned can occur, and I had to interrupt vital training to heal the horse.
There was nowhere to easily get information when I actually needed it. No information or help learning how to deal with the horse to minimize the risks such as getting joint problems, horse tendon and horse ligament injuries, etc., or, when something had already happened, learning what you could do at home to help your horse before the problems grew worse.
Visiting vet clinics, I soon noticed that all kinds of horses had problems, saddle horses, walkers, trotters, thoroughbreds, etc. And with time joint problems were increasing and ligament and tendon problems were decreasing, at least among trotters.
From vets and trainers, I got some information by asking for details, but who had time to explain 'everything' about horse problems?
So, the only way was to try to find out the information myself, by asking several successful professionalsvets, trainers, experienced horse owners and by reading all that I could find written in understandable language.
I started to talk with trainers when I used their services, for example, asking from them how they handled certain problems, and the more I started to know them, the easier it was to get information from them. Actually, with some of them we started to be friends.
Same thing with vets. I all the time asked them what and why they were doing to my horse. I really put my nose very close to everybody and asked and asked, because I wanted to learn more about horse problems, especially about horse tendon and horse ligament problems.
I noticed that vets actually liked that I showed so much interest. I think they were more motivated with my horse when they noticed that the owner tried to do his best with his horses. They explained very much to me about horses: why this thing affected that thing, why they were doing certain things to my horse, and so on.
Because I did this asking and digging, I got more experience and knowledge, and I could do more myself for my horses.
Then, one day, I met a vet who made a deep impress on me.
Actually, he changed my life when talking about horse leg problems.
He changed my way of thinking according to how to take care of problems like horse tendons, horse bowed tendon, horse ligaments, especially suspensory ligament.
He has created his own way to treat horse ligament and horse tendon problems by buying injured horses and healing them in his own way, and succeed with that very good.
The system he is using, is:
- not about causing more pain to the horse
I have used his methods very successfully, because I realized his way of thinking.
Let's take one example.
Let's take one example. This example is from Hannu Polvi – a gentleman from Finland who trains and races trotters.
Many years ago, Hannu bought an older horse, a gelding, a very lovely horse, like a teddy bear.
He already had a problem with the suspensory ligament in his right hind, and some people told Hannu that his career was over, because horses can't race with 'three' legs.
It was all the time balancing on the edge with him: fall down or keep on 'rocking'. With concentrated daily care Hannu could keep this hind leg in order.
The best thing was: Hannu did not need to interrupt his horse’s training!
In one race he injured his suspensory ligament in his right front leg. It was not a very bad injury, but he was lame.
After using this different kind of treatment (different from what we used to do in this kind of situation) he was back racing after 2 months!
And, 4 months after the injury he ran his record! Not so bad...?
Then his right front hoof cracked. The crack was along so much of the back side of his hoof that Hannu couldn't pack/patch it. Putting on a special shoe and pad, he could live with this problem too, and his horse even won some races in his 'old' age.
He was not any world champion, but a nice hobby horse, and he thanked me for my help by racing well. Isn't that the best thanks you can get for your work?
The more you work with your horse, handle him, the more you are shaping your horse to decent and calm behaviour.
And, you will learn more and more about horses at the same time. You just need to focus on every step you do or take with your horse.
And with all this everything is more easy to do, even some healing/treatment things.
Why is that? I got the feeling like horses are trusting you, they can't think you will hurt them in any way. They are not so suspicious anymore.
Now later, thinking about all these health problems, I think I needed a book where I could find at least basic information about problems and what to do. It could have saved me so much time and also saved me and my horses from many mistakes.
So, what I've done is exactlty that, I put together a book for you, with a help from a couple of professionals in health care. This book will help you to avoid making common mistakes and perhaps help you to prevent common problems that happen to horses.
